Teacher Training

As well as a range of online resources via our dedicated webpage, there will be a teacher training programme with six free twilight CPD sessions being delivered by art galleries across London and Essex in the late Summer Term.

Aims


To:

Inform secondary school art teachers and arts educators about the Take pArt Challenge;

Offer training from professional artists to present a range of new artistic techniques and ideas for creative responses to the theme;

Introduce inspiring new artists through exhibitions at the host gallery and ideas for curation;



New approaches to participation/ engagement in order to encourage young people to take part, discuss art/ artists and describe their own art;

Offer ideas and resources for classroom teaching;

Strengthen relationships between art galleries and secondary schools and youth organisations across London/ Essex;

Signpost teachers and arts educators to further art education opportunities across London/ Essex;

To work with Arts Award to help cross-promote participation in both schemes.


Session content


  • Children & the Arts deliver:
    • Outline of Take pArt Challenge, T&C and applications process
    • Overview of online teaching resources
  • Gallery Host:
    • Gallery introduction: tour of gallery and exhibitions, description of gallery’s education work, signposting to local arts opportunities
  • Arts Trainer:
    • Creative responses to theme of ‘Evolve’
    • Technical skills development eg digital, print-making, textiles or collage etc
    • Approaches to curation and critical skills
    • Participation approaches eg engaging with SEND students/ youth club settings
  • Arts Award:
    • Mapping documents
    • Resources for Discover, Explore & Bronze with Take pArt Challenge
    • Arts Award opportunities
